Wednesdays *Reactive & Sensitive Dogs*

Calm Focus Foundations are offered on Wednesdays and are designed for reactive, anxious, or easily overwhelmed dogs. These sessions focus on emotional regulation and building handler confidence in a very calm, low-distraction environment. If group classes have ever felt like too much for you or your dog, this is often a reassuring and effective place to start.

Private Training Sessions

Private training sessions provide individualized support for dogs and their handlers who need focused guidance and a customized training plan. These one-on-one sessions allow us to work directly on the behaviors that matter most to you and your dog.

During a private session, we will evaluate your dog’s behavior, discuss your goals, and begin building practical training strategies that you can use in your everyday life. Sessions are tailored to each dog’s temperament, learning style, and environment so that training remains both effective and humane.

Private sessions are often helpful for addressing challenges such as:

• leash pulling
• jumping on people
• reactivity toward dogs or strangers
• difficulty settling at home
• basic obedience and manners
• building confidence in fearful dogs

Training is conducted using force-free, positive reinforcement methods, helping dogs learn new behaviors while building confidence and strengthening the relationship between dog and handler.

Private training sessions can take place at Green Mountain Dog Camp or, in some cases, in your home, depending on the training goals.

Group Training Classes

Group training classes at Green Mountain Dog Camp provide a supportive and structured environment where dogs and their handlers can learn new skills together. Classes focus on building clear communication between dog and handler while helping dogs learn to stay calm and focused around other dogs and people.

Our classes are intentionally kept small to ensure that each participant receives individual attention and guidance throughout the session. This allows us to move at a comfortable pace while supporting each dog’s unique learning style.

Group classes typically focus on developing foundational skills such as:

• leash walking
• sit, down, and stay
• recall (coming when called)
• impulse control
• polite greetings
• focus around distractions

Training is conducted using force-free, positive reinforcement methods, helping dogs build confidence and learn in a low-stress environment.

In addition to teaching practical obedience skills, group classes provide valuable opportunities for dogs to practice calm behavior around other dogs and new environments.

Whether you are starting with a young dog or looking to strengthen your dog’s training foundation, group classes offer a structured and supportive way to build lasting skills together.

Reactive dogs are welcome in group classes, however the owner must have previously attended a reactive dog lesson or course at Green Mountain Dog Camp.

Saturdays *Group Classes*

Assistive Dog Training Pathways

Assisted Dog Training Program

For owners who want to train their own dog with professional guidance

The Assisted Dog Development program is designed for individuals who want to take an active role in training their own dog while receiving structured guidance and support. In this program, the dog remains at home with the owner while working through a customized training plan with regular coaching sessions at Green Mountain Dog Camp.

Training focuses on building strong foundational skills, improving communication between dog and handler, and developing assistance or service-related behaviors when appropriate. Because the owner is responsible for practicing training exercises between sessions, this program works best for individuals who are motivated to be actively involved in their dog’s training journey.

Companion Dog Training Program

For families who want a calm, reliable, and well-mannered dog

The Companion Dog Development program focuses on helping dogs develop the skills needed to live comfortably and successfully as part of a household. Dogs in this program stay at Green Mountain Dog Camp for structured board-and-train sessions where they learn reliable obedience and calm everyday behavior.

Training may include loose leash walking, polite greetings, recall, impulse control, and the ability to settle calmly in the home. The goal of this program is to help dogs become confident, well-mannered companions who can navigate everyday life with their families.

Assistance Dog Development

For individuals who benefit from a dog trained to provide structured support.

Some individuals benefit from a dog trained to provide emotional or behavioral support in challenging situations. The Assistance Dog Development program focuses on preparing dogs to provide calm, reliable companionship while learning specific support behaviors tailored to the handler’s needs.

Dogs in this program live and train at Green Mountain Dog Camp while developing obedience, emotional regulation, and confidence in a variety of environments. Clients also identify several assistance tasks that the dog will learn, such as grounding behaviors, deep pressure therapy, or other supportive interactions.

Service Dog Training Program

For Individual with disabilities who require a task-trained service dog.

Service dogs are trained to perform specific tasks that help mitigate the effects of a disability. The Service Dog Development program focuses on preparing dogs for this type of work through advanced obedience training, public access skills, and disability-specific task training.

Because service dog work requires exceptional temperament, stability, and focus, dogs entering this program must be carefully selected or approved before beginning training. Dogs in the program live and train at Green Mountain Dog Camp while gradually developing the skills needed to work reliably alongside their handler in public environments.

Board and Train

Our board and train program is ideal for busy dog owners who want to ensure their dog receives top-quality training. Your dog will live with one of our experienced trainers and receive personalized training sessions throughout the day. We'll teach your dog basic obedience commands and address any problematic behaviors they may have.

Board and Train

Structured learning with daily support

Board & Train Program

  • Confidence development
  • Manners and daily-life skills
  • Service dog or therapy dog foundations
  • Dogs who do well with routine and clear expectations

Reactive dogs may be considered on a case-by-case basis to ensure the experience remains safe and supportive for everyone involved.
